club reports 2026
It was great to have a full house for our April Tea Dance with a “Proper Tea” and live music by David Last. Just a quick explanation re the “Proper Tea”, Paul and I used to go to a tea dance in Taunton run by John and Pam Porter, Pam would always advertise her dance Old Time with a Proper Tea. It always amused us because John would arrive by car with all his equipment for the dance but Pam would shop for the afternoon tea items on her way to the dance and she would arrive on her push bike with all the items for the tea in her basket at the front of the bike. There was a great atmosphere and it was lovely to have some visitors who were in the area and two new members of the Old Time Dance Society from Devon with us. The programme included the lovely Davian Waltz which is now a firm favorite with Bath dancers. Paul was able to announce two new Old Time clubs in the South West one in Exeter and one in Somerset. David Last played some amazing music to dance to and he had everyone singing to some of the sing along tunes and then had a bit of fun with the dancers when he played a fast tune for the encore of the Mayfair Quickstep which got faster and faster. We are grateful for the support we receive with many of the dancers travelling long distances, also for all the help we get in setting up the hall and preparing the “Proper Tea” and then helping to clear up at the end of the afternoon. We are here the 2nd Friday of each month and our next live music tea dance with David Last is in September 11th with a you know what!
