October Autumn Weekend Skipton 2025
A group of Bath Old Time Dancers had a great time at The Old Time Dance Society’s Autumn Weekend at Skipton. The Skipton Hotel is ideally based next to the canal with lovely views over the hills and only a short walk into Skipton. Luckily the weather was good for the first two days. Jean and John Parkinson celebrated their Diamond Wedding at the Event and were presented with a flower arrangement to mark the occasion. David Ingley played some lovely music to dance to. The leaders for the event were Bernice & Grahame Baldwin, Jacqui & Allan Todd and our own Joy Lewis who led with members of the Committee, as her partner Wendy Cosh had to withdraw due to ill health. We enjoyed three great evenings of Old Time Dancing and Bath was up for the Set dance each evening along with four other sets. We are all now looking forward to the Dawlish Holiday when we will enjoy lots more Old Time dancing with lots of fun.

May Ball of the Year Weekend Torquay 2025
In May The Old Time Dance Society celebrated their 40th Ball of the Year at the Livermead House Hotel Torquay. There was a full house for this special celebration with 80 members attending. We thoroughly enjoyed the three day event and there was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the weekend. As Committee members we had been involved in the planning for this event as well as sourcing red button holes and decorations for the Saturday night Ball. The leaders on Friday, Christine Clay and Tony Raybould got the weekend off to a great start with an Old Time programme including some dances that have not been on event programmes for some years, La Czarine, The Military Two Step and the Imperial Waltz but the floor was full for all the dances on the programme. Christine and Tony had a Ladies privilege dance and a general excuse me dance that produced of a great deal of fun with many partners being swapped and re swapped again. The Ruby Anniversary Ball that was led by Kath and Keith Jackson, was a fantastic celebration of Old Time Dancing, they pulled out all the stops for this special occasion. On the Sunday night Lisa Champion led with Nigel Carter who had stepped in when her partner had to pull out due to unforeseen circumstances. Lisa and Nigel with the support of Hilary Carter led and danced beautifully another mostly traditional Old Time programme. Lisa’s brilliant smile lit up the ballroom and Nigel’s witty funny commentary helped to promote a relaxed evening with much laughter to finish off the three days of dancing. Throughout the event we had the wonderful music of David Last who with the leaders made this a successful event that we enjoyed.

March Spring Weekend Caernarfon 2025
We travelled to Wales in March for the Spring Weekend held at the Celtic Royal hotel Caernarfon, this was our second visit to the hotel and once again we found it a very comfortable hotel. The food was delicious and it was served by one of the best waiting team we have had. The rooms were well appointed and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Some members took advantage of the hotels spa and although the weather was cold we managed to get out and about. We practically enjoyed the socialising at this event and getting together after the dancing for the odd drink. We had three wonderful evenings led by Erika Strenski & James Forster on the Friday night, Lorraine & Jonathan Tranter on the Saturday and Christine & Robert Haywood on the Sunday night each with their own style, they provided three great programmes that kept the floor full for all the dances. Elizabeth Harrison played some wonderful music and tunes we don’t often hear for dancing. It was great to see so many dancers up for the Set Dances and we had four sets up for the Quadrilles and the Lancers. We met some new members who were attending their first OTDS event and they thoroughly enjoyed the event and praised everyone for making them so welcome and for creating such a good friendly atmosphere as well as wonderful dancing.
