Travel Blog & News 2026
16 Bath Old Time Dancers attended the Old Time Dance Society’s Ball of the Year at Ilkley. The event was held in the Craiglands Hotel which was a very comfortable Hotel with plenty of parking, a beautiful ballroom, good food and helpful and friendly staff. The town itself was easily accessible by a short walk down the hill where we could enjoy the variety of shops, cafes and a delightful walk by the river. However, most of us did not make the walk back up the hill, choosing to use the taxi service that seemed to be running a continual shuttle service up the hill. Of course we were there for the dancing and the leaders provided us with three great programmes of Old Time Dancing with set dances each evening and Elizabeth Harrison played some fabulous music. On the Sunday night Grahame and Bernice Baldwin were presented with a bouquet, to celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary that was just a few days after the event and they surprised us all with a beautiful cake that they shared with all the members at the end of the evening. All in all we had a great time in a good hotel with fabulous leaders, beautiful music and glorious sunshine, what more could we ask for.

March Spring Weekend Bradford 2026
17 dancers from Bath Old Time Dancers attended the Old Time Dance Spring Weekend in Bradford. The event was held in the Midland Hotel in Bradford, an excellent hotel with a beautiful ballroom. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was very good and all the rooms were very clean and comfortable. We all enjoyed the three nights of dancing to the music of Charles Brown with three good programmes of Old Time Dancing by the leaders Bernard & Dilys, Steven & Helen and David & Joanne. The highlight of the weekend had to be the demonstration of dances by Steven Shaw and Helen Blackburn, their elegance and style was a joy to watch. They joined in with the members and had a bit of fun as well. Unfortunately the weather was not the best and the Committee arranged a relaxed social morning on the Sunday, with the help of Charles Brown who volunteered to play for us. A selection of dances was chosen, from a request list, with a mix of Old and newer Classical dances, the Bath dancers enjoyed the Beringer Blues, we will try and include it in our Bath programmes later in the year.
