December Club Report Nine Year Anniversary
The December dance is always a double celebration as well as Christmas it is also Bath Old Time Dancers anniversary dance. So with a few fun dances on the programme, spot prizes, mince pies and a chocolate log cake and of course good company we celebrated Christmas and our 9th anniversary in a party atmosphere. Because it was our last dance of 2018 and our anniversary it made us stop and reflect and we are both amazed that we will be going into our 10th year of running Bath Old Time Dancers in 2019, who would have thought it on that first dance in December nine years ago?, not us! We could not do it on our own and despite four changes of venue we continue to get great support our numbers have increased year on year and we averaged 45 for 2018. We run and organise our monthly dances, a holiday in Dawlish, The Bath and Southern Balls all to support Old Time Dancing and we are grateful for all the support we receive and do not take it for granted. We do not assume people will come to us and we have found, over the years, as we continue to travel to support other Old Time dances and dancing holidays, if you support others they will support you when they can.

Bath Old Time Dancers Change of Venue
As we hold our monthly Old Time Dances on the 2nd Friday of the month the April dance fell on Friday the 13th. The Hall we use is part of a school in Bath that is due to close in August, however we and other users had hoped to continue to use the hall after the closure and had been in discussions with the local authority to that end.
Three days before the April dance we were told the booking was cancelled! We had already started looking for other halls in case we were not able to continue at the school but most of them were too far out of Bath. There was one hall we were considering that we had danced in before and was just on the boundary of Bath. Luckily it was available for our dance in April, we booked it and hoped it would be OK. We quickly phoned around to let the regular dancers plus some who live further afield and come to us occasionally, know about the change of location. We then had a couple of anxious days looking at future dates and negotiating with the new hall administrators and preparing for the Friday dance at a new hall.
Friday the 13th turned from disaster to success, 56 dancers turned up to support us our best ever numbers, everything worked out very well with the hall, a lovely sprung dance floor, good facilities, plenty of parking and wonderful support, we had a great evening of Old Time Dancing. The Hall is in the village of Saltford (details on the location tab). This week we are able to confirm that we have booked the new hall for our future monthly dances, we can continue to have the 2nd Friday of the month. It looks like it was an ill wind etc. and hopefully we will be able to continue at the Saltford Hall for many years.

January and February
We continue to receive good support and in the first few months of 2018, despite flu and cold viruses, we have had attendances of 45 plus. We receive support from a wide area as we remain the only club in the Bath/Bristol area dedicated to Old Time Dancing. We are very grateful for the support and the long distances people travel to dance Old Time Dancing with us. It gives us a great deal of satisfaction to have such a large group regularly enjoying Old Time Dancing.
