Travel Blog & News 2023
April
On Maundy Thursday we made a 600 mile round trip to Whitby to support Kath and Keith Jackson who were leading the Old Time afternoon dance at the start of the Easter Festival organised by David Bullen. It was well worth the journey for a lovely afternoon of Old Time Dancing despite the uneven floor. We stayed overnight in a Premier Inn between York and Thirsk which made a pleasant stop before the return journey on Good Friday.
March
We have not travelled far in the first quarter of 2023 as we have been busy with work on the house. We have made two trips to Devon in January and March for the Merrymakers club. Although they are no longer dancing all Old Time we will continue to go to Devon when we can. Then on 24th March we travelled back down to Devon for The Old Time Dance Society’s Spring Weekend at the Livermead House Hotel in Torquay. What a great weekend it turned out to be with great leaders all three evenings and the wonderful music of David Last. The weather was very kind to us and the Hotel was excellent, the food was superb, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the beautiful ballroom had an excellent floor. Through a chance meeting in a coffee shop, with a local photographer, we managed to get some publicity for the Old Time Dance Society in the Torbay Weekly newspaper.
