Christmas Dance 2021
It was a joy to be able to hold our Christmas dance in December 2021. We had a programme of Old Time Dances to some lovely Christmas music. Although we decided not to have any progressive dances we had a few spot prizes and there was a very festive atmosphere helped by the mince piece in the interval. The December dance brought a difficult year of dancing to an end and although 2021 was better than 2020, who would have thought we would still have some restrictions at dances. We are fortunate to be supported at our monthly dances by a loyal group of dancers who all come along determined to have a good time and help to provide a friendly atmosphere. We are also grateful to the trustees and staff of Saltford Hall who have guided and sustained us by providing support through the restrictions. As we look back over the year we did have a reasonable amount of dancing and luckily enough restrictions were lifted so we could hold our Bath Ball in September and our November holiday was back with a full house again. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support in 2021.

September Bath Ball 2021
All the plans for the Bath Ball 2021, had been drawn up after the Ball in September 2019, however, we couldn’t really get preparations under way until after July 19 this year when all the restrictions were lifted. So with a last minute rush and the help of some good friends to prepare a buffet, the day of the Ball finally arrived. We were a little nervous, as this was the first big event we had run and people had attended since 2019 but once the dancers arrived and old friends greeted one another we were able to relax. David Last provided the music and as soon as he started to play for the first dance everyone was on the floor and it was lovely to see the floor full again. In the words of one of the dancers David played out of his skin, his music was exceptional and made you want to dance more and more…..and so we are back dancing Old Time amongst friends, as though we had never been away.

Although we are still dancing with restricted numbers and in line with the regulations our July dance was full again with a waiting list. Dancers booked in joined us for an evening of Old Time Dancing quite a few travelling long distances to attend. The worries about not remembering the dances soon disappeared when the music started. We are hoping and keeping everything crossed that our next dance in August will be free of all restrictions whilst of course proceeding with care. Planning is underway for the Bath Ball in September and three quarters of the places are already booked.
